Our Vision
To create a green wildlife corridor alongside the Werribee River, adjacent to Hopetoun Park and Parwan Gorge. That can contribute to the resilience of the landscape in a changing climate. Provide habitat for wildlife and recreation areas for the community to enjoy.
This group acknowledges the traditional owners Wadawurrung and Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nation and their continuing connection to this land, water and it’s community. We pay our respects to traditional owners, their cultures and elders past and present.
Our mission is to connect with like-minded people who have a deep appreciation for our natural environment. We welcome members from all backgrounds and offer a safe environment with respect to build mutual trust and collaborate to make a real difference and achieve common goals together with our partners.
This region also has its own species of eucalyptus, Werribee Blue Box tree (Eucalyptus baueriana ssp. thalassina) which only occurs along the Werribee River and its tributaries. In 2011, the ‘Werribee Blue-Box’ was officially recognised by the National Herbarium of Victoria. Classified as endangered under the Flora and Fauna Guarantee Act, these magnificent trees, grow from 3 to 12 metres. We are indeed fortunate to have a number of these ancient specimens surviving in this area.
Our logo the Werribee Blue box serves as an important reminder as to why we need to protect this environment. Not only will your commitment benefit this community, it will leave a lasting legacy for our future generations to come.
